Eavestrough, Soffit, and Fascia

Eavestroughs, also known as rain gutters are an integral part of you homes defense system against  water. The main purpose of an evestrough is protect a homes foundation by channeling water away from it.  They also help to reduce erosion, prevent leaks in basements and crawlspaces, protect painted surfaces by reducing exposure to water,  and provide a means to collect rainwater for later use. Downpipes and splash pads assist with channeling water away from the house. At Grand Building we only use seamless gutters and can match any colour gutter to your homes roof.

Fascia or Fascia board caps the end of the rafters outside a house, which can be used to hold and support the rain gutter. The finished surface below the fascia and rafters is called the soffit or eave.

Soffit most often refers to the material forming a ceiling from the top of an exterior house wall to the outer edge of the roof, i.e., bridging the gap between a home’s siding and the roofline. Soffit vents are a key element of a home’s attic ventilation system. Proper attic ventilation saves energy and prolongs the life of the roof, especially in Canada because we experience both hot summers and freezing winters.
These three components are essential in protecting your home and allowing it to live a long and healthy life.
